Rolex Daytona 16520 Patrizzi: 1998, Watch Only
The 16520 is the Zenith Daytona, produced from 1988 to 2000 with the El Primero base movement that Rolex reworked into its caliber 4030 and slowed down for durability. It is the reference that took the Daytona from a slow seller to the most wanted chronograph in the world.
The Patrizzi dial is named after Osvaldo Patrizzi, the auction specialist who first documented it. On these late nineties dials, the rings of the subdials turned from silver to a warm bronze because of a reaction in the varnish. No two have turned exactly the same. This example is from 1998 and is offered as watch only, without box or papers.
