Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Rubberclad 25940SK: The Offshore That Traded Polish for Grip

The Offshore was always the loud younger brother of the Royal Oak, but the 25940SK took it a step further. Audemars Piguet took the steel Offshore chronograph and clad the bezel, crown and pushers in vulcanised rubber, giving it a raw, tool watch character that the line has never quite had in the same way since. If you ask us, it is one of the most honest Offshores ever made: built to be worn hard, and it looks the part.

The Rubberclad has become one of the more distinctive references from that era of the Offshore. Collectors who want something outside the usual steel and gold versions go looking for exactly this one, and examples in this kind of condition are getting harder to find every year.

Design & Movement
The 42mm stainless steel case carries the classic Offshore proportions, with the rubber clad bezel and its eight hexagonal screws. The black Méga Tapisserie dial holds three counters, with the date at 3 o'clock. Inside beats the automatic calibre 2226/2840 chronograph, a proven and reliable workhorse.

Provenance & Condition
This example dates from 2008 and comes as a full set with box and papers, together with Audemars Piguet service papers. The piece presents in a condition close to unworn.
