Find me one like itAudemars Piguet Royal Oak 14990ST Fondation: Time for the Trees, Turned Tropical
In 1996 Audemars Piguet made a Royal Oak to support the Audemars Piguet Foundation and its cause, the preservation of the world's forests. The 14990ST Fondation was limited to 250 pieces. The dial carries the word Fondation above the AP signature, and the gold rotor is engraved with a tree and the line Time for the Trees. It is the 36mm mid size Royal Oak, in steel, powered by the automatic caliber 2225.
What makes this example special is the dial. Over the decades it has turned from its original colour to a warm, tropical grey brown, consistent across the whole surface. With only 250 made, finding a Fondation at all is difficult. Finding one that has aged like this is rarer still. It was accompanied by its box and an Extract from the Archives.
