Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar 25554BA: Where It Started
Today the perpetual calendar is one of the defining Royal Oak complications. In 1984 it was new. The 25554 brought it into the 39mm case of the original Jumbo, driven by the ultra thin caliber 2120/2800, at a time when mechanical high complications were anything but fashionable.
This example is in 18k yellow gold and has a smooth dial instead of the familiar tapisserie, a configuration you rarely come across. It is accompanied by an Extract from the Archives that confirms its production in 1984. There is no box.
