The 5066A is the Aquanaut in its early, purest form. At 36mm it is smaller than the Aquanauts that followed, and it was the reference that introduced the sapphire caseback to the line, showing the automatic caliber 330 SC. The embossed checkerboard dial and the tropical strap set the template every Aquanaut since has followed.
This example is the classic configuration: black embossed dial on the original black tropical strap. The case remained exceptionally crisp, with sharp edges and a strong bezel, and the watch is confirmed by an Extract from the Archives.
