The 14790 is the reference that kept the Royal Oak alive through the nineties. At 36mm it sits far closer to Genta's original than anything AP sells today, and for years that made it unfashionable. Now it is the opposite. Collectors who came in through 41mm cases keep discovering that the smaller case is where the design actually resolves, and the 14790 is the honest way into vintage AP.

Dial marks matter more on this reference than on most. Across a long production run the 14790 went through several dial variations, and the Mk3 is the one collectors tend to hunt for its printing and tapisserie proportions. In white it reads unusually crisp, the waffle catching light against the applied markers rather than disappearing into a dark field the way the black versions do. This example is used and shows it, but wears its age honestly.
