Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Openworked 15305OR: Skeletonised in Pink Gold

The Openworked Royal Oak is where Audemars Piguet stops hiding the work. Genta's case was always built on the tension between the industrial and the precious, and stripping the movement back to its bridges pushes that tension as far as it will go. The 15305 does it at 39mm, the diameter where the Royal Oak has always looked most itself, and wears the skeletonised caliber 3129 as its dial.

In pink gold it becomes something else entirely. The anthracite treatment across the openworked bridges gives depth to what could easily be a busy watch, and the warm applied markers read cleanly against it rather than fighting for space. A solid gold Royal Oak is never subtle, but this one earns the attention it takes. It rewards close looking in a way almost nothing else in this category does, and the sapphire back means the reward continues from the other side.
