Patek Philippe Nautilus 3800A: Blue Dial, Serviced by the Maker

The 3800 arrived in 1981 as the smaller sibling of Gérald Genta's original Nautilus. At 37.5mm it kept everything that made the Jumbo great, the porthole case, the ears and the integrated bracelet, in a size that wears beautifully on almost any wrist. It stayed in the catalogue for more than two decades, and for many collectors it remains the most wearable Nautilus ever made.

What sets this example apart is its history. At some point in its life the watch went back to Geneva, where Patek Philippe itself fitted a new movement, and the work is fully documented. It is exactly what you hope to find in a vintage Patek: no question marks, just original parts installed by the maker, with the paperwork to prove it. Add a full set and a condition that was very good for its age, and you have a 3800 that ticks every box.

Design & Movement
37.5mm stainless steel case, blue dial with horizontal embossed pattern, applied indexes and date at 3 o'clock. Automatic movement, replaced by Patek Philippe and documented. Fitted to the integrated steel Nautilus bracelet.

Provenance & Condition
Full set. Movement replaced by Patek Philippe, with documentation. Very good condition for its age.

The Nautilus 3800A: vintage Genta, with Patek's own stamp of approval.
