Find me one like itPatek Philippe Nautilus 3800: Black Lacquer, Roman Numerals
The 3800 arrived in 1981 as the smaller sibling of Gérald Genta's original Nautilus. At 37.5mm it kept the porthole case, the ears and the integrated bracelet, in a size that wears beautifully on almost any wrist. For many collectors it is the Nautilus that wears best.
Most 3800s carry the familiar embossed dial with baton indexes. This one does not. Instead it has a glossy black lacquered dial with Roman numerals, paired with feuille, or leaf shaped, hands. It is a far more classical look, and it turns the sports watch into something closer to a dress watch. The deep shine of the lacquer against the brushed steel, the Roman numerals and the leaf hands together make this one of the most distinctive configurations of the reference, and one that collectors look for specifically.
This example dated from 2006, was in excellent condition, and came with an Extract from the Archives and a Patek Philippe travel pouch.
